Aside from your emotions being different, eg. being moodier than usual, there is no way anybody can tell.

ignore that last post thats the biggest load of crap ive ever heard n sounds like its come from a 13 year old. unless your mates with superman no one can 'smell it' dont worry and it something every woman gets and is perfectly natural i know what its like when your young and at school but honestly few more years you wont care who knows its not a big deal

A
reader, anonymous, writes (23 June 2006): some boys might be able to smell it especially when you just changed a pad or something.
But like others said, its nothing to be ashamed of. Then again, nothing to be proud of neither. (just had to include that since everyone always seems to say only the nice things around here)

I cant agree with Dr Psych more, she is spot on!! I mean unless you tell them, how would they know?
As Angelicc said also, they may notice mood swings etc sothey may assume its "that time" but apart from that, how would they know?

reader, anonymous, writes (20 June 2006): You know girls, unfortunately, some men can actually smell periods floating around. Since we spend time with our gf's more often, we, or at least I can find a change of smells when it happens. PLUS, as HBF has said, unless they're on the pill to control their hormones, they usually get really friggin cranky. Flowers die while she walk past a garden, cows turn the other cheek, and old farmers raise their forks, grumbling mad curses! [sobs]

Yes, because girls on their period turn cows mad and milk sour.

Not unless they keep track of your periods no. Boys just asume your on you period when you become quite emotional or upset by something thing is small.

I haven't met many men with x-ray vision...you can usually hide it if you want to, but you shouldn't be ashamed of telling boyfriends etc that you have your period because for years it was shrouded in secrecy and now you see adverts for tampons etc on the TV nearly everyday.
