Do any other middle-aged men get broody?

A male United Kingdom age , anonymous writes:

I'm in my mid-forties, I have a couple of kids, and I'm married. Recently whenever I see a pregnant woman, I get...well, it's difficult to describe the feeling, but all gooey and wistful is probably the best description, and I really want to get a woman pregnant, any woman. I don't actually want to have anything to do with the child after it is born though.

Before you all start to get angry and write how irresponsible it is, I'll fill you in on a couple of details:

1) I also know that it is a stupid and irresponsible idea

2) it ain't gonna happen in any case, because I had a vasectomy 10 years ago.

I was just wondering if these kind of feelings are common in middle-aged men. I used to think that only women got broody at that age.

You are just shifting gear, getting ready to be a grandad. As for the urge to get women pregnant and have nothing to do with the baby. Well done. If youve only just found that urge, you are quite rare. Unfortunately it seems to be an urge thats been turned into an art form by many men.
