Discolored cervical mucous (girls only)

Question - (8 April 2008) 2 Answers - (Newest, 9 April 2008)
A female Iceland age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with me! I started two or three days ago with light, light pink cervical mucous(at least Im pretty sure it was cm), which then turned light brown. I still have it. I'm due for my period any time now. I'm on the Pill, take it regularly (of course), and now am on the break for my period.

Today I started with really bad back pain, upper and lower. I have pain in my ribs and sternum, too, like really bad cramping heart burn. I was kind of nauseous today, but I think it might be a different bug.

I feel pain in my lower back, as if it were my kidneys. I'm also very bloated and tired a lot.

I'm thinking of taking a pregnancy test in two days, but I really don't think I'm pregnant! What else could it be? I don't want to scare my boyfriend.

Thank you! I will wait a few more days, if my period does start, I won't be worried. If it was an infection, I'm guessing I'd have other symptoms, too... But I have no burning when I pee, and I have no fever.

I hate this waiting game. Wish me luck, I hope AF comes soon! :P

If you are worried and these are unusual symptoms for you - then go and see your doctor.

A little bit of red or brownish spotting before your periods start can be quite normal - same with the lower back pain (I get these quite often and it can be bit painful).

Also if you have recently started on the pill - it might be the body getting used to the hormones.

If you think there might be a chance you could be pregnant then - do take pregnancy test if you periods dont start in the next few days - light red or brownish spotting can sometimes occur when women are pregnant.
