Dear Cupid,

My girlfriend and I recently broke up. I've known her for 15 yrs. We got together about seven months ago. But before we were together I was engaged to my high school sweet heart of 5yrs. She cheated on me and really never got over her until recently. I would talk about her without knowing and my girlfriend just got fed up and left me, telling me that I never really loved her and only gave her half my love, but in reality I gave her more to her than I ever did to my high school sweetheart. She hates me and will not even offer to be my friend Should I try talking to her or should I just let time pass and let go of a best friend?

It doesn't sound like you have ever been totally over the other girl from the past. Maybe she did leave you because she could see that you have feelings for someone else. You need to make sure that the girl that hurt you is out of the picture. In life you will get hurt so many times that thinking about the past won't help you. You have to remember you have to live for the future and look after what you have while you have it, because nothing sticks around forever!
