What happened is I started the Sunday of my period, which was also the first day, but the next day I wasn't bleeding. I called my doctor and she said continue but I think I just started when I was spotting! I'm worried I started the pill without being on my period and I want to know what could happen to my body if I started on the wrong day and if this has happened to anyone else and what their experience was? Thanks guys!

The pill is a tricky thing, there are so many questions and so many scenarios, I know a lot about the pill because I've been asking around myself. There's no silly questions! If you've never taken it before how would you know what to expect, it's quite normal.

You can start the pill any day of your cycle and it won't affect anything. If you did start it during your period, it will stop the bleeding. A "normal" amount of time is 1-3 days to stop bleeding once you start the pill. The pill in a sense stops your cycle from happening. The only reason they advise a Sunday start is because it's easier to keep track of for some reason.

Nothing happens no matter what day you start on. The pill is designed to work so you wont get pregnant, and if you take the pill on the first day of your period (which you did correctly) the bleeding automatically stops and you are protected from getting pregnant. Your period will start again at the end of the packet, and your cycle will continue as normally. If you take the pill any other time than the first day of your menstruation you are not protected from getting pregnant right away. Nothing happens at all other than you might get pregnant if you have sex. If you start at any day other than the first day of your period, you will need to take the pill for about 7-8 days before you are fully protected.
And thats it really. Your period does stop once you take the pill, thats what should happen. You will get your "period" at the end of the packet when you take your 7 day break from the pill. So if you want to skip your period one month you continue to take the pills. This way you also push your period to a different time, and change your cycle. Nothing happens to your body except for your period being changed to a different date.
A lot of information is in the leaflet that came with the pills, you should read it to understand the pill better, even if you are not having sex. If you have any more questions just ask us :)
