Depending on where you live, is there a preference for a certain hair color?

Question - (8 June 2010) 2 Answers - (Newest, 8 June 2010)
A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

This is sort of for curiosity sake: Since there are so many people from all over the world here, do you think certain places prefer certain hair colors over other? For example there is the notion that men in greece go crazy for blondes. Is this just a stereotype? Or is it true that the more rare something is, the more it is desired? So just for interest sake, state your opinion, where you are from, if you have a preference, and why?

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (8 June 2010):

chigirl agony auntI think people might be attracted to what is considered "exotic". But again, not all men are, so it is hard to say. But I did hear and got confirmed from a friend of mine that Japanese men like asian women, and Japanese women love European/North-American men. Because the babies then look so pretty. But that's more an overall thing and not so much hair color.

A female reader, petina1 United Kingdom +, writes (8 June 2010):

petina1 agony auntI think most fickle men like the 'Barbie Doll' look. Thats why so many women dye their hair blonde and don't eat. Blonde hair has never gone out of fashion but it's easy because anyone can just simply dye their hair blonde. Men prefer blondes other wise if they prefer 'redheads', everyone would be trying to be red. A lot of women want to please the majority of men so much that they miss out on their soul mate just to be popular. Hope this helps.
