Lola1 agony auntCindyCares has made some additional suggestions which I find a lot of fun. I have a sneaking suspicion that if the OP took a look at the time she's already spent with this "bloke", she'll find she's been on dates already, even if they differ from what one sees in movies...

As for the paint drying CindyCares, Q is VERY selective about who he watches paint dry with. Having said that, I have to admit to some jealousy. You see, I read his diary yesterday and in it he states he hopes to take you to the Rice Krispies "Snap, Crackle, Pop!" concert and I wish I were nearly as special as you... :(

Have fun, though... Bring me back a t-shirt.

CindyCares agony aunt Q ! Did you take Lola to watch paint dry ?... How come when I ask you to watch paint dry with me you always say : oh no, that's boring. Too bad for you. I am planning on hand polishing a crate of cherry pits and I am NOT inviting you to join the fun.

Forgive us , OP:) sometime we like to pretend that we too are your age.

Back to your question. You got good suggestions already,it really does not take a lot to "invent " a date, anything involving food is always good. Also -country fairs and flea markets. Local sports events. Browsing bookstores and music stores. Public parks and gardens. Check listings on your local newspapers for free or low cost theatre shows or music gigs. Just use your imagination, anything that is

a bit different and out of your usual routine can be fun and romantic !

Lola1 agony auntWhat are you trying to say, Q? Are you trying to make a point about that time we watched paint dry?

Next time we decide to do something together, why don't YOU pick the activity then? :P (lol - joking, of course!)

A female reader, Lola1 Canada +, writes (16 June 2010):

Lola1 agony auntWhere do you want to go? What do you think would be appropriate?

Why not make suggestions yourself, like, "Let's go to the movies on a date," instead of "Let's go on a date somewhere." "Okay, where?" "I don't know."

Other date options include, but are not limited to: dinner, rollerblading, a picnic in the park, sight-seeing, a party at a friend's house...

Good luck.
