Crushing on a friend when I'm already so happy. Why??

A age 30-35, * writes:

I've been with my boyfriend for quite a while. A year and a bit...so I'm so surprised to find myself crushing on someone else.

Since going with my boyfriend, we've had a lot of ups and downs, and we've stuck through it. It's hard to deal with me because I'm so moody, and I understand that it's hard to get along with me when I go up and down like a roller coaster...but through all of that we are very much in love.

Next year I'm going to college, and we're moving in with each other. Everything seems as near to perfect as it can be...

so I almost feel self-destructive. As though I'm now rooting for myself to fail.

You see, I'm bisexual, and have been out for some time. Just within the past few days I met one of my friends from elementary school and we decided to catch up...and she's so amazing. She's so perfect, and yes, she's bisexual, as it turns out as well, (I blame the water we drank as we were growing up). I am definitely crushing on her, and daydreaming and whatnot...and I feel so horrible about it all.

Why would I do this to myself? I can't stop thinking about her, and it makes me so happy, but the timing is so not right.

What I think I'm going to do is just try not to show how interested I am. Play it cool and just be her friend. Maybe someday we'll both be single and it will work out, but if not then there's no point in creating rifts and confusion.

Do You think this is the right path?

Well, I just met her though. It's just a crush really...but I feel so happy just thinking of her.

Just wait...If you begin to have very strong feelings for this girl, then you might want to re-think things with your b/f, if you can't solve the problem then maybe you should be with this other girl.
