You need to tell your friend, unprotected means no protection. There is no being careful. A guy could do external, he could even finish himself, but the little bit of fluid that exits during four play and during sex still contains sperm. It only takes one.
I'd tell her to just pick up a home preg. test to make sure. Periods are not always on time. Her freaking because "he was careful" is enough to throw that off. I knew a girl, which is probably medical, didn't have one for 11 months, due to stressful changes in her routine.
