Hiya,

I'm not sure whether i'm pregnant or not.

I had sex about 5 days ago but we used a condom, pretty sure it didn't break but i have this uncontrollable fear of being pregnant.

What I think was my period came on yesterday but it seems to be getting a bit lighter and I researched it on the internet and noticed Implantation Bleeding could be the cause, but i'm thinking its down to stress of it all? I know I'm only young (16) but its going to ruin my entire sex life worrying about being pregnant all the time, I can't tell my Mum about this either because she'll flip. My period seemed pretty normal to be honest I had the same old regular cramps and symptoms I'm just so paranoid I'll be pregnant which is quite scary. I'm scared of taking a pregnancy test too (which I know I will probably have to) its just a scary thought.

I'm really underweight too i'm just under 6 stone, not through choice but i've been really stressed out past year or so and I'm scared if I am pregnant the weight o f the baby would kill me because I've been weak enough as it is and doctors think I might be anemic too. I have no idea what to do or who to turn to.

Could my period be messed up because of stress?

Please help I'm so scared of telling any of my friends too :'(

Thanks to all who answer.

Well done - you've done the right thing. It's big step telling your mum something like that. If the test is negative, you can feel less stressed out. Even if it is negative, I think you should visit the doctor for your weight problems.

Did your mum flip as much as you thought she might?

I'm not surprised you're having a light and scanty period if you're underweight, stressed and possibly anaemic! Missing out a period (or having a scanty period) is totally normal for girls your age anyway as your hormones fluctuate a lot in adolescence.

If you have been using contraception properly the chances of you becoming pregnant are quite low, especially if your period came at the normal time and seems pretty normal aside from being a bit shorter than usual.

I would go to your doctor anyway for your weight and possible anaemia

Hello sweetie. Im sure you arent pregnant if you used the condom properly and youre having a normal period now. The bleeding might be slightly lighter than normal if you have anemia. You need to have a grown up chat with your mum about birth control and your fear of getting pregnant. If shes a sensible woman she will help you to find a form of birth control that suits you and then you can stop worrying x
