Hubby and I have been using condoms since. Lately, though, we have started this routine where we start without a condom and finish with a condom. I know my body and I know my fertile days and I am also aware that being 35 my fertility is dropping dramatically... so do you think I could get pregnant this way? Told hubby I wasnt sure this was the safest method and he said... if you get pregnant, we'll just keep the baby, no need to freak out, we're tow adults with two steady salaries- we're not teens anymore. What do you think?

Yes you can get pregnant that way
What I did when I could not take the pill for contraceptive due to nursing was used a combo of Natural Family Planning (taught by the Catholic Church to anyone) and a diaphragm during my fertile time. This meant that we were good to go without a diaphragm for 3 out of 4r weeks but if we wanted to have sex during a period where I was in my fertile space we used the diaphragm.
For us it worked perfectly.

Yes it is possible that you could get pregnant. It is slight but there is still that risk.
I can understand you are both adults and not teenagers, however it sounds to me like an immature decision if you both don't want a child. Why would you bring a child in to the world unwanted? I think if you are both sure about not wanting a child that you think on a different method of contraception.

You can get pregnant. Pre-ejaculate can come out way before ejaculation occurs. This can sometimes be enough to cause pregnancy.
