Illithid agony auntSo he forgot the ring when headed to a party that wasn't supposed to have girls? Then when he found out girls would be there, he asked you to come be at the party with him? It sounds like he's got no interest in flirting with other girls and be being straightforward with you. He just forgot it, these things happen.

The Realist agony auntIt seems like it's possible. I have forgotten my watch which I always wear. It can just happen when you leave in a hury.

There is some suspicion if he has never forgotten it before. I never forget my necklaces because they have so much meaning to me.

In the end yes it is possible and I wouldn't let this one time ruin anything. If you are worried then look for some sort of stronger clue that he was not letting people know about you.
