I'm interested in getting one, and have read up a little about them but would like to hear a review from someone who has really had one. Thanks!(Just to note: I am in a healthy and stable relationship, and both my partner and I are clear of STIs etc. We've relied on the pill for the past year, but it's an absolute pain because I'm forgetful and hate having to think about it all the time. I'm not looking to be told off for trusting his fidelity, I'd just like some experiences from other women. Thank you)

lucy.whittaker is verified as being by the original poster of the questionThanks guys! I went to the doctor today, but apparently it's become very popular recently and there is only one doctor trained to do it, so there's a waiting list which I'm now on. She gave me the injection to tide me over because I didn't want to carry on with the pill, so we'll see how that one goes until I get get the implant done. But thank you for your answers. I've heard good reviews all round, and the boyfriend is keen because we won't have to worry at all anymore. Not keen on babies just yet! Kind of hoping they stop too - they're such a pain!!
Thank you!!

Well talking from personal experience, iv tried just about every method of contraception and by far the implant professionally known as the 'implanon' is by far the best! It has different side effects with different woman but with me im afraid to say it was a small amount of weight gain. But for me the plus side was that it completely stopped my periods. And to boot, i knew that every time i forgot contraception or didn't have any at hand, then i was covered! However this is NOT in any way an excuse to not use condoms because of the risk of HIV, AIDS, and other infections. Its comfortable and half the time i forgot it was even there!. When you have it inserted into your arm, it may leave a bruise for a short while but it soon goes. And best of all it does NOT interrupt sex!!!! and that's always a bonus! feel free to mail me if you have any questions! xx

I have had implanon for almost 2 years now and generally its been fine.
For the first year i had constant bleeding but then my doctor gave me progesterone pills which made it stop.
I still get all my period symptoms, PMS and all but at least i dont have to worry about oral contraception!
