Yes make sure he wears a condom. Even if he wears a condom it is possible that you could still get some of the std and sti'sIf you are going to have sex make sure its protected. I always like the uterine implants that last for up to 5-10 years. You don't have any worries, your period stops, and you can have it removed early if you decide to have a baby. Condoms are nice for short term relationships, but once you meet a good guy you know doesn't cheat, you might decide to go without them. With them implant, you can forget about a baby until you pursue having one intentionally.

I would second that you talk to your doctor.

I track my cycles using the fertility awareness/symptothermal method, which works really great for me because I know when I ovulate and then I just abstain for that week :)
If you combine that with a condom use--you will be extra safe!

Hi there, you are asking a question which we can't really answer, as you are an individual with specific needs. It would be a great idea for you to pop into your doctor's and have a consultation on your best options.
As you are in the UK, and have access to the NHS, I have found you a great link which can help you get started: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception-guide/pages/contraception.aspx
Best wishes to you!
