A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 April 2008):

My mom took me to her doctor to be examined at 13. She told me that her mom did the same for her at 13. and requested that i have my hymen broken in the course of the exam. years later i was glad mom took me in that day. My first sexual experence was so pleasureable. I think all girls should have it done.

Did you want to lose your virginty?

A broken hymen is what denotes loss of virginty. A hymen can be ruptured by a finger, horse back riding, or falling on an object in your youth. Broken hymens can be accompained by bleeding.

Loss of virtue is another matter.

A family doctor could aid you with this issue but most doctor's prefer to leave any exams until AFTER you have become sexually active.

Still, the family doctor is the best place to turn to when it comes to any medical concerns regarding your body.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (27 August 2006):

You have not lost your virginity until you have actual sexual intercourse. You would only bleed if the hymen was broken, which usually happens when having intercourse but can also happen when you are fingered. The pain was probably because your vagina is tight because you have not had this experience before, it should get less painful the more often it happens because you will get bigger.
