You can become infected by exchanging bodily fluids through french kissing, sex, oral sex anal sex and coming in contact with open wounds. Usually the person who is carrying aids virus can infect you with any of these bodily fluid exchanges. Safe sex is using a condom and not kissing, or doing oral sex.

The HIV virus is delicate when it is outside of it's preferred home environment - your blood. The acids in your stomach are strong and would pretty quickly deal with the virus. The risk with oral sex, which honestly isn't that huge (still best not to gamble when losing means death!) comes from any small cuts or open sores in the mouth or throat which would allow the virus to get into your blood stream. This is why, although good dental hygiene is nice, it is NOT a good idea to brush your teeth before or indeed immediately after introducing someone else's body fluids into your mouth unless you know them really quite well. This is because brushing your teeth can easily open small cuts in your gums.
