A male reader, anonymous, writes (11 May 2008):

I received stretch marks on by butt and inner thighs starting at age 14 years old. I never grew to fast and never had a weight fluctuation issue. I did not understand why I got them and neither one of my parents had the issues I had with stretch marks. Even my mother when pregnant with my sister and I had much of an issue. I also had acne more than they did also (did it skip a generation hmmm...) Well I came to think that it may be a deficiency of some kind. I found a stretch mark web site called 'stretch marks no more' that was an interesting site with products people use. I used the products a little, I could have been more proactive but this was long after I had the major purple stretch marks and where most of mine have become white; even though from time to time a purple mark appears some where. Interestingly I am finding a correlation between when my skin gets itchy in those areas and the stretch marks. Two websites you can check out http://www.stretchmarks.com/howtheproductworks.html (this is the body beautiful institute where I bought some product but having a good job at times is necessary) & here is another website I just found www.stretchmarksnomore.com

Stretch marks are another facet of life we have to live with but research is being done to try and improve the appearance of our skin if we are interested. Take care and love your self no matter what:)

I got them when I was about fourteen, on my hips, butt, and breasts. It means you're growing! Woo! Congrats, if that was what you're hoping for. They can also be itchy, so rub some good lotion on them a few times a day. They will fade out (I can't see them on my breasts or butt anymore, but the white faded scars are visible a little on my lower hips), so don't really panic. If you're really thin, then you're more likely to get them.

Stretch marks are a sign that your body is growing. It's all a part of growing up, and most people get them. Also, it might be that you're gaining weight. It's nothing to worry about, your body goes through different stages as you grow up. If you are self concious about them, then use Palmers cocoa butter serum. Yes, it is for pregnant women, but u can also use it to reduce the appearance of the stretch marks.

lilly_08 agony auntstrech marks are caused because the skin has streched further than it can so if you put on weight and your skin has streched then it will slightly tear and thats what strech marks are most pregnant women get them on their stomach when they are pregnant.
