writes: on friday one of my co workers"a" asked me to text my manager to see if he wants me to come in on sunday. i text my manager to ask him and told him "a" asked me to check with you in the morning. when i did he said a" did not work yesterday. i told him she asked me on friday( the day before). now i just want to be honest with my manager and don't want him to think i lied to him so what should i communicate when i go on monday. should i just ask a" i wanted to make sure i understood this correctly that she wanted me to check with the manager on sunday or should i talk to manager about it?

Just because I took the time to read this .. that I will reply! Really? Really? Where is the problem here? Don't say anything to anyone unless asked to verify the situation....Else tell the Manager to contact A if he/she has any questions about A's attendance! You are the only one making a storm about this I am sure!

Well, I am not sure I understood correctly but if I did you have not done anything wrong at all and there is nothing that you have to fix.
A asked you on Friday to text the manager.
Sunday morning you texted the manager and he was surprised, he said, but A did not work yesterday ( Saturday )..how could she ask you then ?
You said : A had asked me the day before, Friday.
What's wrong with that ? where's the lie ? It would sound all normal and regular ...
