I don't have any self control and I would like to know if anyone has any tips for me because I know this is not an uncommon problem...

I was bulemic in 8th grade and I have always had issues with my weight. It's not that I am fat, I have just always been heavier than any of my friends and I would like to slim down a little but this time in a healthy way. My problem is just that i have so self control...

I find myself craving dessert all the time and I seek it out and binge on dessert. The whole time I am eating it I am hating myself and telling myself that I should just put it down but I still want more. I had promised myself that I would spend the next to weeks or so trying to cut out pasta, bread, and dessert from life. I have failed miserably because I keep making "exceptions". When I eat a lot of dessert and then I look at my body in the mirror the next morning I always tell myself that I will eat less than 1000 calories that day... And the cycle continues. Often I skip meals to make up for the fact that I eat so much dessert.

I genuinely do want to be healthier but I need to learn to control my urges and I was wondering if anyone had any strategies that worked particularly well for them.

Thank you so much!

k_c100 agony auntI think you should stop telling yourself to cut out certain foods as this never works! If you tell yourself you cant have something then you end up wanting it more!

I am totally the same, I've been trying to lose weight on and off for years but never had much sucess because I love chocolate and after a meal I always find myself craving it! When I stop myself from eating it for a couple of days I always end up having a massive binge, so now if I want something I let myself have it (in moderation - I will have 2 tiny chocolates after a meal to stop myself craving it).

You say you had bulemia a little while ago and if you do still have these binging episodes it sounds like you are not entirely over it. Did you see a therapist at that time? If not I would suggest going to see a therapist as they will be the best person to help you deal with this.

If you stick to healthy eating - this means eating all food groups (predominantly fruit and veg for fibre, small portions of protein and small portions of carbs with a small amount of healthy fats - found in oily fish and olive oil etc).

Try eating white meat only as it has less fat, fish is also excellent if you are trying to lose a bit of weight! Have one treat day a week - this means you can still have what you love like your cakes and doughnuts but the rest of the week you stick to your healthy eating.

There are no secrets or miracles to losing weight - eating healthily and excercise is the only way to do it. Ignoring celebrity diets and magazines is also a good idea - celebs only get thin like that because they pay a personal trainer to work them super hard every day and then they pay a chef to cook them healthy food! Unless your a millionaire following their diets wont work!

Aim to lose 2lbs a week (this is a healthy rate of weight loss) and you should feel better within 2-3 months. Patience is what you need to achieve your goal weight!

Good luck!

Arianz agony auntDear,

Few advices for you but please don’t mind...cause maybe my advice bit rude but it will work if you maintain.

1. Look at mirror everyday (Be Nude that time so that you can see you figure and realize and try to hate your this figure)

2. Compare your self with any person who has nice figure that will inspire you to stop eating.

3. Consult with health doctor or better gym specialist who can advice you to have a nice figure.

4. Always try to eat lots of fruit that will reduce you hungriness about other fat foods.

5. Always mind it

“Over weight is not for life

It will hard for you to become a permanent wife”

Because BIG true is that GUYS like nice figure………..

I hope you will try your best….

Take care
