STD = Sexually Transmitted Disease.
Meaning, you have to have some form of sex for you to contract one. Even coming in close contact with people who have an STD could pass it on to you - for example, if you kiss someone who has herpes, you may get herpes.
HPV and syphillis can also be passed on from skin to skin contact (so watch who you touch!)
However, I'm not a doctor nor am I a medical expert on STD's, so your best bet would be to look on the links Tisha-1 gave you or call your doctor to ask some questions.

No. Obviously you can't. If you don't have sex, then any disease you catch hasn't been sexually transmitted.
BUT you can get numerous diseases from close contact with another person that aren't sexually transmitted. AND some diseases that ARE sexually transmitted can also be transmitted in other ways too - although some of the better-known STDs can only be transmitted by actually having sex.

Yes, in several different ways. For example, as already pointed out, HPV can be spread with skin-to-skin contact. Blood transfusions (very rarely) can transmit diseases. Drug users are at terrible risk of contracting them. And you can be born with a disease such as HIV if your mother contracted the disease before (or even after) becoming pregnant.
All but one of those are rare occurrences, extremely rare. The only one you should really watch out for (unless you are active in the usage of intravenous drugs) is HPV, herpes or syphillis via skin-to-skin contact.

Please don't trust a bunch of strangers on the internet to give you reliable medical information. How do you know any of us have any true knowledge of STDs?
Yes, you can get an STD with out having had vaginal or anal sex.
HPV (the human papilloma virus), syphilis and herpes can be spread by skin to skin contact. It's not terribly likely, but it is possible.

Good Question! I'm a bit curious myself about some STD's. I am aware that HIV is really hard to get w/out having sex because the virus can't live outside the body. I'm thinking that it would be very hard to get an STD without having intercourse. There are some really great sites that will answer all those questions for you. If you need help, just give me a ring.

Other than that, it is highly unlikely. You would need to have unprotected physical contact from genitalia to genitalia with someone who has it, to get an std.
