I'm freaking out because my mom told me to be honest with the doctor and I am but I'm not a virgin and my mom would freak if she found out I've been sexually active. She said the gyno can tell if I've been sexually active or not. Is this true? Can he honestly tell that I've been sexually active? Reply to this Question Share |

Hey guys, Please be aware of the Laws of where you live. In the United States, if you are under the legal age of consent (check you local laws) the doctor is ~~Required~~ by law to tell your Guardian if you are a virgin or not.Of course the doctor has no way of telling weather or not you are..(Unless you specifically tell him) However I STRONGLY Advise you be very honest with him.It could potentially save your life.

I went to the gyno and didn't even have to get an exam! He asked if I was sexually active, I am but I told him I wasn't. So everything is alright now. I got the Birth Control so everything is fine. Thanks for the advice though everyone. :)

I thought you were sexually active or planned to be for there to be a need to be on birth control. Surely your mom will know if she approves of you getting birth control.

Please be honest with your gyno, they cannot tell your mother anything you tell them not to say. You can have your mom out of the room if you want, but it's important t be honest with them. If you need to you can message me but I'm sure you'll be able to decide what to do. I wish you luck, and remember that with doctors it's important to be honest so they have all the information to do their job.

Be honest with your doctor and he may want to test you for STD's as well as pregnancy depending on the answers you give him....if your mom is in the room with you, she will hear the answers to your quesions, but you can request that she wait for you in the waiting room and your health is confidential.

I'm telling the gyno that I HAVEN'T been sexually active. And I looked on Planned Parenthood, and other websites and every website I've found says the only way a gyno can tell if you've been sexually active is if you have an STI or STD or somethings ripped thats not supposed to be. Is that true?

The gynaecologist can tell, but it doesn't matter. Legally, she cannot tell your mother. So, do as your mom says, be honest with the gynaecologist because your health is what is most important. The only way your mom will find out is if you tell her. He can't, it could mean his license.
