A male reader, j4k50n Australia +, writes (16 January 2011):

It's possible, but not likely. Pre-cum or pre-ejaculatory fluid is released when a guy gets an erection. It cleans out the inside of the urethra, which is the tube that carries semen and urine out of the penis. The fluid makes the urethra less acidic and gives the sperm a better shot at surviving the trip from the guy's testicles to the girl's fallopian tubes. There's usually NO sperm in pre-cum fluid. But, if there are live sperm inside a guy's urethra (because he has ejaculated recently), the pre-cum can "pick up" the leftover sperm on its way through the urethra and out of the penis. If a guy pees after he ejaculates, that would kill leftover sperm. So, say a guy has sex and cums at 9 p.m. He doesn't go to the bathroom after he has sex. At 10 p.m., he gets another erection and pre-cum fluid is released. That can have live sperm in it. Is it enough sperm to get a girl pregnant? Possible, but not probable. But pre-cum can carry sexually transmitted diseases, so a guy should put on a condom as soon as he gets an erection. So like I said before, It's possible.. But it's also not very likely.. So you should have nothing to worry about..

To be blunt..I am sorry to state, you will have to wait this out, the full 30 days as per instructed by the doctor. Any time a condom breaks inside a women's vagina and there is a possibility of pre-cum leakage (you don't know for sure), your gf and you just upped the ante of possibly becoming parents. Wait this out another 10 days or so and you will have your answer.

Hi all, sorry to dig this topic up but im confused alil. I had sex with my girlfriend, used a condom etc, but the condom broke inside, so would precum still get her pregnant? I didnt finish inside, the second it broke, pulled out and put on a new condom. She went on this other injection Lumell or something like that which prevents pregnancy, the doctor said it would take a month for the injection to take full effect (it changes hormones and such) so its been around +-20 days, the big question is should i still worry about her getting pregnant?

Short answer - Yes. always use a condom unless you are on the pill AND in a very permanent relationship (eg: own a house together or are married). Go on the pill and use a condom with any less permanent relationship. It is much better than to be safe than sorry and there is also always a risk of infections, no matter what the guy says. As someone who has had a termination (thankfully with my partner) I can honestly say it is a very stressful experience, even if there is no question about whether or not you want to keep the baby. There is never such thing as too much protection.

eyeswideopen agony auntReminds me of a guy I dated in college. Bill went to a Catholic boys high school. His science teacher/priest told him that all girls menstruated together at the same time each month and that it had something to do with the moon. He didn't believe me when I explained it to him. heh heh

This is not the worst question we have had, but I have to ask everyone why would you have sex if you dont understand reproduction?

I mean go to wikipedia and look it up. Like understand how your body works before you have sex. It seems like a very reasonable approach- what am I missing?

stina agony aunt(btw - even if it's not during your fertile time, you can still get pregnant(!!), it's just *more* likely that you'll get pregnant in your fertile window. Your fertile window is two days before ovulation and the day of ovulation. The link I gave you below will help determine when this is for you.)

stina agony auntHi Anon,

Yes, precum can make you pregnant. That's why it's best to have some sort of birth control handy at all times you have intercourse. If you aren't taking anything, then you should probably speak to your doctor about your options. If you choose to not go on the pill or anything, then just buy a box of condoms forthe next time. It's a lot better than hoping the precum won't make your pregnant, right?

As for you being fertile, I'm not sure. But I do know of a website that helps women figure out when they are: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ You might want to take a few seconds to register if you would really like to find out.

Hope this helps! Take care.
