A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I have several questions because I asked my friend and it was totally confusing what he said.

So if a guy cums while in intercourse, you can get pregnant right? So how long do you have to take birth control or is there anything else ?

Also, can he "hold" his cum in or something? Or can he not control it ?

A female reader, HonestyAunt United Kingdom +, writes (23 January 2009):

When a guy cums, his cum comes out. In you. If you don't use birth control you have a high risk of getting pregnant. Also if you don't use protection, such as condoms, you have a high risk of contracting a sexually transmitted infection.

If anyone yells you any different they probably have an ulterior motive because these are the black and white facts.

As another writer said, it's possible for a guy to stop himself from cumming but it's really not likely, and if you trust a guy to "pull out" just in time, it only takes a second's mistakte to end up pregnant and with something like herpes to boot. Or worse. Please don't do it. If you already have, get yourself down to your doctors ASAP, they wil be able to offer you lots of help and advice. You may not have caught anything or be pregnant, but the sooner dealt with, the lesser the consequences.

a guy can stop himself from cumming by simply stopping the stimulation to his penis but i doubt anyone could hold it in

Tisha-1 agony auntA little bit of a reality check too: http://www.webmd.com/sex/news/20080311/1-in-4-teen-girls-infected-with-an-std

It's really kind of scary that so many girls could get an STD and not even know it. It's like a major epidemic and girls go on and engage in sex with out condoms, then wonder why they they get an STD. It's because they are out there, they are real, and they happen to real people, including girls in the late teens.

Please, do me a favor, read over all that information I gave you, watch this video:

A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (19 January 2009):

Tisha-1 agony auntI'm not entirely clear on what it is you are asking, but I think you need to be working from a position of knowledge and not relying on what your boyfriend thinks might be okay or possibly probably shouldn't not cause a potential pregnancy. (See, now I've confused you too, right?)

So take yourself straight over to these websites and have a really good read about birth control AND STDs (sexually transmitted diseases); THEN you'll be a position to think about making smart choices that could impact your body and your future health and your plans for your future.

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/birth-control-4211.htm

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/stds-hiv-safer-sex-101.htm

The statistics for the withdrawal method of birthcontrol are a bit eye-opening. If not practiced exactly correctly every time, 27 out of 100 women will become pregnant. Not bad odds.

If someone is telling you that you don't need to use a condom because he can control when he ejaculates, well, he's risky on two fronts. One is that in the heat of the moment, he won't be able to control himself. Two is that he might have convinced other girls to believe him, and he's been exposed to some STDs, which he can then pass on to you.

Get educated, so that you can make smart choices about what you do with your body. You only get the one, and it would suck to have to tell future partners about having herpes or HPV or any of other the other nasties. http://www.webmd.com/sexual-conditions/12-std-questions-and-answers

Chisa agony auntmy boyfriend says that if he tries to hold his cum that it hurts really bad. If he is having sex without a condom and he doesnt want to get a girl pregnant he has to pull out and masturbate so he can cum. if he doesnt its the worst pain a guy can experience...wel thats what he tells me.

A male reader, SebastePistis United States +, writes (19 January 2009):

SebastePistis agony auntIf you're too poor to puchase condoms, you're too poor to be having sex.

Orgasms lead to a release of semen, but there's also pre-cum - a drop of semen that lubricates during sex and also contains sperm. It is technically possible to become pregnant from that as well.

Birth control regulates your cycle and needs to be taken at recommended dosages. Skipping dosages may make you susceptible to becoming pregnant, as well as consuming alcohol while on birth control as well as being overweight (the drug needs a higher dose in more tissue).

I've never been able to 'hold it in' myself - but if there's some sexual gymnasts out there, I'm sure you'll hear from them.
