writes: Can men have the Gardasil injection that protects against HPV. Im asking this because I have a genital wart and I want to protect any future partners from contracting warts from me. And the commenter is correct. The vaccine will only prevent disease and not cure it.

reader, anonymous, writes (13 June 2009): Vaccines protect against getting something, like HPV. They don't prevent someone from spreading the disease once someone already has it. That is why it is necessary for women to get the vaccine before they are sexually active. It does no good once they already have HPV.

reader, anonymous, writes (13 June 2009): As I understand it, there are some doctors who recommend Gardasil for men, but it's an "off-label" use. That is, it hasn't been approved by the authorities (at least in the U.S.) for use by men.
I'd really want to do some serious research first.
