You don't need a prescription... you can order a box right from the site/link I posted. That's how I got mine since the stores closest to me don't carry them.

You can always try using the menstrual cup, which doesn't stop your period, just prevents it from coming down since like a diaphram it covers your cervix and catches the flow there. It makes it like you're not on your period anymore and for very "clean" sex. I've done it on my lighter days and it works beautifully, better than any pad or tampon, and you can wear it for up to 12 hours.

Here's one website, and you can read about it: http://www.softcup.com/

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (25 April 2009):

If you take the combined pill then you can manipulate your periods but then you aren't taking it right... and nearly all the pregnancies that happen while on the pill are because you aren't taking it right.

If you go on the progesterone only pill then that stops your periods all together for most women. Some experience side effects though.

Put family planning and the name of your town into google and you should be able to find drop in centres and all kinds of places. It only takes ONE visit to the hospital's clinic to get the pill every 6 months so it can't be that hard unless you live on an island or a remote farm.

Good Luck!! xx

bobbles32 agony auntI asked my doctor about the skipping your period every month thing, with the pill.. and he said it's fine for up to 12 months, but then you should really have a period. He said that if I want to have fewer periods I should get "the shot" which is a needle you get that lasts for 3 months, you don't get your period.

Thanks to all.

I read around and i didnt want to do anything unless I was 100% certain. Dont want to mess around with my body.

The thing is, that i need a prescription for the pill where I am atm, so its hard to get the pill.. but i'll take the tip and use it in the future!

Is it safe to always skip your period with pill then? or only every other month?

pebble agony auntLook into the contraception pill if this is a prblem you face regularly. With the pill, you can decide if you want your period this month or just skip it til next month.

kellyxxx agony auntI work in a pharmacy. Ibuprofen doesn't stop your period. The only thing to do to stop a period is go to the doctor and get prescribed norethisrone (think its spelt like that) or if you are on the pill you can just take the next packet when you are due to come on you period. X

I have never heard that before.

However I do get headaches and take a lot of painkillers and I've never found that it's done that.

Please don't over dose. Read the label.

You could just have sex in the shower instead.

USE CONDOMS!!

Good Luck!! xx
