writes:my boyfriend is SUUUPER paranoid that il get pregnant while on the depo shot.we never used to use condoms but lately he has insisted that we use them incase. iv been on it for almost a year and only reason is for protection against unwanted pregnancies, im thinking about going off it for a while as the side effects are getting to me (weight gain and depression). we had a scare before i went on the shot when i misscarried so i understand why he's paranoid so i want to know if anyone here has got pregnant while on the shot?? i mean ON IT not when they forgot for a week etc....

reader, anonymous, writes (1 July 2010): i am on the depo shot, and the dr told me that they cannot say anything is 100% effective. However they are calling it over 99% safe, and they havent had anyone in their studies that has become pg while taking the injection properly.

reader, anonymous, writes (1 July 2010): There is always the chance you could become pregnate while on the Depo shot, when using a condom, or on the pill. If you both are ok with takeing the risk and not using a condom for extra saftey then that is fine, but know that there is always a possibility.
