With a condom you will not get pregnant, unless there is a hole or tear it will be fine. As for being able to get pregnant at this time, you can be impregnated a few days after your period. The ovulation cycle starts some time soon after your period ends and the days before ovulation are the peak fertile days so do not ever have sex unprotected. But you will be using a condom so nothing to worry about, that and prevention of the spread of STD's is the entire point of a condom.

Condoms, when used correctly, can prevent pregnancy on their own regardless of what part of your cycle you are at. If you are planning to have sex be sure to use a condom. He should put it on before penetration and make sure there is a small amount of excess at the end so the semen has somewhere to go (not just the reservoir tip, but also some excess. Also be sure it is all the way to the base of his penis and that he checks it is still there before finishing. He should hold onto the base as he pulls out as well.

As for getting pregnant during a period, I'm unsure of that one, as I'm only a guy and certainly not an expert on the subject of pregnancy.
