writes: I hate my permit picture..i am actually in my twenties and just learning to drive now..my non drivers id before this--i looked very cute..this one the pose is just all wrong and i look heavier and suprised because i wasn't readyis there a way to replace the photo with a different one? i know it is not a big deal but i just really don't even want to show this picture to anyone.I live in New York State.  I'm a New Yorker too. Last time I went in, they said that I could come back and re-take a picture. And I did. Call up the DMV and ask!!

reader, anonymous, writes (1 October 2010): I think that there are worse things going on in the world than worrying your ID pic isn't cute enough-whenever someone sees it your going to be there in the flesh any way so they can see if the pic was just a bad day. Everyone hates there passport or driving licence pics but we mostly just laugh and get on with things :D

Here in Britain, the only way to change something like that is to get a new permit. Maybe you need to do that if you don't like the picture. Just don't put another picture on top, or you'll wind up arrested.

reader, anonymous, writes (1 October 2010): How about if you "lose" your permit - it might cost $20 or something, but they'd have to take a new picture and make you a new one.
