A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (5 September 2010):

DrPsych agony auntIf there were no medical complications with the abortion then there is every reason to think you will get pregnant again. If you are worried, see a doctor who can do a check up of your overall health and deal with your concerns. It is possible that your husband would know you are not a virgin after the wedding. However, not all women bleed on first intercourse and not all women break their hymen this way. Doing vigorous sports such a horse-riding is known to sometimes cause the hymen to break. I think if you are going into such a serious commitment as marriage then you should feel able to talk to your husband freely beforehand.
