I said i didnt need one for obvious reasons but the doctor wanted to give me one anyway just to make sure everything was ok.It really hurt and my whole body was shaking by the time she had finished and i was begging her to just hurry up and get it finished. My question is do you think having the test done broke my hymen? she used the small instrument because i freaked out at the size of the normal one. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Ask your doctor. She is the only one who can tell you exactly why you should have that test and if that test could have broken your hymen. I believe that test allowed your doctor to see if there at all was a hymen there, so she should know.
The pain could come from you being so tense that it hurt, also that you probably haven't had too many instruments going up that way, so it was an unusual exercise for your vagina. I believe it would be best if you get a hold of that doctor on the phone and ask her these questions and also your concerns.
But, in either case, you are still a virgin, and the most important thing is that you are healthy!

The hymen is pretty fragile. It wouldn't take much to rupture it. I have heard of girls breaking it while engaged in rigurous sports, masterbation, gyno exam, and of course sex. If you bleed soon after the exam, it is quite possible.
It's not a hymen that determines virginity, but rather sexual intercourse.
Good Luck!
