writes: Is it TRUE that eating tofu and peanuts(sorts of nuts)can lead to Gout in long term? Recently an elderly warns me about it. It scares meI eat tofu, tempeh daily with brown rice(vegetarian).i don't really like mock meats and prefer all kinds of vege. I mostly eat outside due to work commitments.Is it a myth only? It's the opposite, gout is caused by over production or underelimination of uric acid , and food rich in purines are helpful in eliminating uric acid ,therefore fighting the joint inflamation of gout. Tofu and nuts are high in purine content.
