I am thinking of moving to Dubai, there are a couple of people I already know out there but obviously I am very nervous about it as I have many friends and family in the UK.

Has anyone else moved abroad, if so what are your experiences? I know it won't be easy but I think I would have many opportunities over there, more so than where I am now.

Thanks.x

cd206 agony auntI spent last year living in Spain as part of my degree. Although in some ways it was a fantastic experience that I learnt a lot from, I did find certain aspects of it hard to deal with. I'd recommend doing what the other person says and taking an extended holiday there so you can see what it's like to live there rather than just take a holiday. Hope this helps.

DrPsych agony auntI don't think anyone else's experience of living abroad, including my own, will be necessarily helpful for you in making your mind up about this issue. After all, we all have different needs and wants in life. However, why not go for a little while with an open-return flight back to blighty - I am sure there are plenty of opportunities for short-term employment in say, the tourist trade over there. You may love life out there and meet lots of new, exciting people or you may hate it or miss your family enough to get back on that plane - either way you are in a no lose situation as travel experiences (good or bad) are great life events that will help you with all sorts of situations in the future.
