You're off to a great start with swimming and walking. Losing weight is simple maths. Put less energy in than you use up. As you are getting exercise, my guess would be that it is only in the eating area that you need to change. Whatever you do, don't diet. It is a surefire way to put the weight back on. You need to make permanent lifestyle changes. Keep a food diary is the best way to start. You'll be surprised at what you don't realise you've been putting into your body. Eat 5 to six small meals a day, and always have breakfast. Most dietary changes are common sense, change to low fat, limit yourself to takeaways twice a year, eat whole grains, fill up on vegetables. You can undo a week's worth of good eating with one takeaway meal.

Consider weight training. You don't have to go to a gym to do this, there are simple exercises online that you can do at home. You won't "bulk up" unless you really try to, and you will burn more calories even when sitting around.

Good luck! I lost 30kgs myself, so it is definitely possible! And I am so proud of my six-pack now!

leyan agony auntHi,

Yes, eating a healthy well balanced diet and excercise, should help, but if you are already doing so, and the weight is still there, go to the doctor and have your hormones checked, sometimes, it can be hormonal, and if it is, the doctor will prescribe was is right for you.

All the best.

O Connor agony auntexcercising isnt solely going to help you lose weight if the other elements of your lifestyle stay the same. diet changes also need to be made. cut out sugar, sodas, unhealthy snacks, and convenience foods. instead of frying your food grill or poach it instead - it retains the flavour. if you are a snacker, snack on fruit or nuts instead, and drink alot more water, i have also found that herbal teas work wonders! my mum lost a tonne of weight by making homemade soup - it tasted amazing and had way less salt and fat. she had it for lunch. for dinner she used to either have weightwatcher meals, or healthy meals - grilled fish, chicken etc. also try and cut down on the amount of starchy foods that you eat. for breakfast aswell, cereals like special K and corn flakes are healthy, or brown toast....if you want more help just email me xxx

If you lose about 1lb per week then that is good and safe and you wont pile it all back on. I used to walk my sons dog every day, about 3 miles. I would put some dance music on and just dance around the house for half hour every day, it was just great and gradualy the weight came off.

take care

xx

Serinity agony auntDiet and exercise are the obvious answers. But the secret is to find an exercise that you enjoy doing. I found Tae-Boe and kick boxing and I absolutely love it! Not only am I doing a vigerous work out but I'm relieving stress and by the time I'm done I feel so good and refreshed that I can't wait to do it again. So, I'd say just find an exercise that you love to do, stay active and eat right and (especially for your age) watch that 30kg's melt away. Good luck sweetie!

LIERIN agony auntHey

I have lost 40 kilograms in 9months ... it wasnt easy, but I did it, and I know anyone can do this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just need strong will pover and you can make it ...

What I did?

I completely stopped eating flour .. breads, pasta, rice, potatoes ... etc ... I started eating only fruits, vegies, nuts, lots of meat and milk products ... its hard on the begining to get use to it .. you will be starving .. but you will find out, that after a month of doing this you are not feeling hungry anymore ...

I also went to to gym 5days a week ...

From size 18 I got onto size 8-6 pants 4 dresses. Now I eat pretty much normal (just have to watch myself!!!) .. and I work out 6days a week and I am proudly keeping my wieght off for a year now ...
