So I stopped the pill.Now I have a great boyfriend and am considering becoming sexually active, although im afraid of becoming prenant if the condom breaks etc. Can anyone give me some advice. What are the chances of getting pregnant if we use a condom? And should I take the pill just incase? Or is it not worth the risks that are associated?Thanks

Here are some good links for you to read about all the various contraceptive methods that may be available to you.

Good luck and good for you for being proactive about your health and thinking things through. Your gynecologist is your best resource as she or he will know your individual situation best.

It will help a lot and should be used, but you still have to be careful of your partner. Herpes and HPV can be transmitted through skin to skin contact and oral sex. Herpes can even be transmitted if there are no blisters at the time, but it is rare in that case.
I think your best bet is to talk to a doctor about the various forms of birth control. Some women have side effects from the pill, but the various pills work differently for different women. One will have side effects and another one won't. The newest IUDs are much better than they used to be, but they sometimes cause an infection, although removal will normally clear it up on its own. At least it did for my wife many years ago.

Condoms are generally very reliable, and the only way to stop STDs.
Having said that, I managed to get someone pregnant when a condom split. So it does happen...
If you hate the pill I recommend considering the IUD, although i'm not sure at what age it is advisable to use it, you might be a bit young. Also reconsider the pill: it is VERY reliable (as long as you never forget to take it), and the health risks are minimal.

It is a good idea to use a condom, as they are the only form of contraceptive that protect you against sexually transmitted infections, STI's for short. Using a condom and water based lubricant every time you have sex means you have less chance of;
Becoming pregnant
Getting an STI including HIV/AIDS
Using a water based lubricant like KY jelly or Wet Stuff each time you use a condom reduces the risk of the condom breaking. Avoid oil-based lubricants such as petroleum jelly (vaseline), massage oil or other body lotions as this can cause the condom to break.
hope this helped :)
