Is there any advice or remedy that someone might know of to make the buzzing go away or is it just a matter of having the discomfort till it returns back to normal. Thanks for any advise

I used to play guitar 2 - 3 nights a week in a pub band, fronting my Marshall stack for 8 years and it's taken it's toll. Seeing an AC/DC gig at close quarters 9 years ago put the tin lid on it for me - can't hear conversation in a busy environment etc.
Take these other guys' advice - wear some kind of ear defence or pay the price - you have been well-warned!

I always wear ear plugs in night clubs and loud gigs.
The buzzing in your ears will normally go away after a few hours, but then you will never hear that pitch again! The more often you go to these clubs the more damage you will do to your hearing.
If the ringing is in your ears for more than 3-5 days see a doctor who can refer you to an ENT specialist

And it does suck not to hear conversations going on around me. The slightest background noise, and I don't have a clue, what people are saying! It makes me feel old, and I don't like that. I haven't taken my own advice and seen a professional about it yet, but I think I will!
Good Luck!

If you hear buzzing after loud music you are doing permanent damage to your hearing. This will lead to progressive deafness as you get older (i.e. you'll lose hearing and you'll miss higher frequencies).
The recommendation of ear plugs is a good one.

Uncle Phil's right.
Maybe you could try looking at buying some ear filters instead of ear plugs; they're different from ear plugs in that they attenuate all frequencies evenly, so you still hear clearly, it'll just be a bit quieter, and the sound won't be as muffled as it would be wearing ear plugs.
You can buy them in clear colours so they look discrete.
Check them out.

A
reader, anonymous, writes (28 March 2009): I'm quite sure this is Tinnitus. I've got it all the time, literally 24/7, due to working in the extremely noisy environment of aircraft carrier flight decks, even though it was mandatory to wear ear defenders.
Basically, I'd say you've irreversibly damaged your hearing. The vibrations damage the tiny hairs inside the cochlea in your inner ear and there's no way of fixing them.
The only advice I could possibly give is to either wear ear plugs when clubbing or stay away from extremely loud environments, because you'll get very hard of hearing later on. You'll feel left out of conversations because you won't be able to hear what people are saying if there is any background noise.
