He said that if we keep texting each other, then it will be difficult for us to recover. So I didn't text him for a month and a half. I was doing ok at first. But after that time I started to text him again like twice a week and he would ignore me. So i stopped doing it. Then later it was him texting me late at nights and i would reply next day. Now, we seem to be okay but we never talked about our break-up. And we never met since that break-up. I sometimes wonder if he still loves me coz to be honest I still do but i will never dare ask him...i am shy. My question, I thought he said that we should stop communication for us to recover, why doesn't he remind me about it anymore? And he's the one who starts this texting but after 3 replies from me, he would stop replying back. Now with this encouragement, I feel he still loves me and maybe I can go back to him. Is there hope here or should I just dismiss this?

If he still felt for you he would have made a move to spend time with you so I really think that this is over form him. He sounds like he has moved on with his life, maybe you should too.
