Breaking up because I'd like to join the national guard?

A female United States age 30-35, *rokenandconfused writes:

i graduate in 3 months and i've decided to go the army national guard. my boyfriend of two years doesn't think it's a good idea but i really want to go. we had a huge fight and we broke up. recently i met someone and i think i fell in love all over again but i still love me ex. what do i do? should i go back to my ex or stay with one who believes a i can make a difference by going to the national guard?

If you are going into the army or anything like that then you should be single.

You'll be going off for basic training and probably being sent far far far away for a long period of time.

I think your deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan are 15 months at a time.

Accept that if you have feelings for 2 people then neither set of feelings are that real. Stay single, get your head on straight and good luck with your chosen career.
