writes: There seems to be a new system in the UK whereby children needing braces have to achieve a certain degree of severity to be able to have treatment on the NHS. both of my daughters require braces but their teeth aren't as bad as other children so they do not qualify for free treatment, we'll have to go private and our dentist has quoted £4000 in total for braces for fixed upper and lower braces for 10 months and then retainers for at least a year, i was wondering how this compares and whether the cost is average and if anyone has any advice about keeping the costs down, both my husband and i work but it is still going to be hard to find the money and the idea of not being able to give my girls this really hurts me. the eldest is a model, how great will the impact of having to have braces be? and if we were to go for invisiline braces or tooth coloured ones how much extra do you think it would cost? thankyou so much xxx

Why not call round some local dentists and ask.www.yell.comAlso you could check flights to Latvia where dentistry prices are capped. A latvian lady I met said it was much cheaper to fly home and go to the dentist than it was to not pay for flights and go private here.Good Luck!! xx
