Belly button hair, and I hate it!

Hi, I'm an 18 year old girl, and I have belly hair! Thankfully it's pale, but it's still noticeable when you look. I know it shouldn't really matter but I've never seen it on other girls and my ex pointed it out once which has made things even worse. I love sex and I love my body, but when it comes to my stomach I hate having it uncovered just because of the hair!

I tried waxing it, but I got ingrowing hairs a lot and it didn't really work.

I also tried plucking it, which seemed to work well but then I always get ingrowing hairs after a few days with that too. Although I'm really careful, is there a 'right way' to pluck hairs so this doesn't happen?

I find shaving and hair removal cream bring me out in a rash and stubble, so I just trim it now. But it's still there, how do I pluck the little bastards? They keep coming back to haunt me!

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (21 March 2009):

You've never seen it on other girls because it's completely not noticeable.

I really worried last week because I realised I wore the same pair of jeans in to work for 3 days.

Then I realised that I couldn't recall what any of the other girls wore in the office any day of the week.

You don't see it on other girls and they don't see it on you.

It's horrible when an ex points something out, I have a list of things my Ex "helpfully" told me I might need to improve on, and Yes, I am self conscious about them too. But the trick is to hold your head high and just try and forget about them.

Please trust me when I say that no one notices that it's there but you.

Good Luck!! xx
