Do people with a learning diffcultiesy get anywhere in life> I have had learning diffculties all my life and life is impossible. Everything I do I fail at it and I'm left behind, like years behind. For people with NO learning diffculties, life is way esier but that's not me. What people with learning difficulties are left by years while those who don't move up the ladder quicker. The people like are just left labelled a stupid retard or simply put, life passes by for me and people without learning difficulties go ahead without failing exams and life is great for them.

People like me have to wait another year to repeated exams or maybe two while peers go on. and flown on the retrads like me, that's is so unfair,

A female reader, new Zambia +, writes (8 January 2009):

I was 18 years old when I sat my GCSE,s nearly three years older than my classmates & the same is for my middle daughter who is 13 yrs old. I was very dyslexic at school and could never retain any information. I was always told how stupid & lazy I was and would never amount to much. I am now 38, I know that sounds pretty old to you, but it took me years to feel confident to go out and get a job (28). I now work for one of the biggest mining Corporations in our country. With the aid of the computer spell check system, it has helped largely with where I am today. Richard Branson was also dyslexic and left school at 16. Look where he is today. I know how hard it is to believe in yourself when you continuously feel “stupid’ & when people put you down. Keep your head up and concentrate on your good points. Pick the subjects that are your better marks and try and study them more. Try and motivate yourself to study two weeks before exams. I know its ‘boring’ and ‘what is the point’ (been there) but just try and set yourself a small goal like I will increase my marks by 5% from the last exam results etc. It is all about trying your best and working hard at what u do, even if it is a small step at a time. Perhaps you should get tested for dyslexia then they will give you more time during exams. All the best x

petina1 agony auntIs it so important to get your exams. Could you find something that really suits you with an understanding company or employer that will help you gain experience and work up the ladder from a practical point of view rather than an academic result. I sometimes think that work experience far outways the swatting behind a desk.

Unfortunately also its dog eat dog out there most of the time ad employers know they can cream the best, the ones with the results on paper. You may have to come a bit closer to home and start from there to avoid the upset and ignorance of others. hope this helps.

Poor you. I've always felt intense sympathy for people which suffer from learning disibilities and have experienced set backs in their life - and henceforth, feel that it is my duty to aid you. Having read your post; it seems you have not only been a victim of learning disabilities, but low confidence (provoked by bullying). If you really do have a strong intention to get anywhere in life - you have to have confidence; an attribute which I hope my reply will provide you with (or develop into). I suppose your lack of confidence has been formed due to effects of mental bullying, "failure", and labelling yourself a "retard". As far as mental bullying goes - you have to put yourself above the bully. I myself experience, and have experienced bullying throughout the majority of my life;
