I have a question, I have a professor that I am very attracted to. He is single, and older than me in his 50's, but I have just turned 40 and have been out of the dating thing while raising my daughter who is 24. I have spoken to other people who says that I should not persue him. What should I do?

A reader, anonymous, writes (17 November 2006):

I'd rethink this, dear. You don't want to be dating your professor. I'll tell you why. In most colleges and learning institutions, there is serious rules against this sort of thing although it does happen, on the sly. It could be considered a serious breach of professional ethics and standards of professional behavior that is expected of him. He could land in hot water. If you want to date him...wait until you graduate.
