writes: Are we in control for own our life, or we just think we are? Can chance rule our life ? How many times do we have plans and good intentions and they get ruined by bad luck?Do we have a destiny? Is God makes this weird plans for us? Or do we always get what we deserve? Reply to this Question

reader, anonymous, writes (15 January 2009): HiI would more often than not say YES we are in control of our lives to a certain degree, but sometimes we are controlled and effected by what surrounds us... certain rules even universal laws and so called acts of god. Maybe we are not in control of our lives as such, but we are in control of our 'mind' and how we 'react' when we have no control of things that happen to us. How many times when we are on the road do we think.. it's the OTHER drivers we need to watch? In an accident we are out of control of our lives but make a split Minute CHOICE to TAKE control and swerve or break.You say 'do we always get what we deserve?'hmmmmmmmmm yes and no... in my opinion.What goes around comes around (yes)...cause effect etc...(yes) however we often don't get what we deserve, a child does not ask to be abused, a woman raped,(no). you get my drift? but they get it undeserved.We CHOOSE to do right or wrong, to think negative or positive. Maybe we are actually out of control but have to learn to take control.'God makes weird plans for us?' yes a weird dude...i have a silly theory probably a load of cods wallop, maybe the dude says to us before we come to earth... I will give you everything inside yourself that you need, even a light when things get dark ..remember to switch it on though...remember you will always have a choice, good bad etc...Remember when you get down their on earth , you are on 'your own physically'....so i can't stop that man throttling you, or vise versa, but he can CHOOSE and i hope he remembers ME so he chooses well. You may well forget about me but you will have a strange thing with you called faith which was my promise..and a guide that will whisper in your ear from time to time to give you a prod when making a wrong choice. I think choice, and destiny...is what we AGREED with the Dude to do..but how we reach that destiny is mainly about making good choices but sometimes been diverted by OTHERS making bad choices that put obsticles in our path. Anyway just a theory or fairytale but you asked.Via con dios. Go with the Dude.

 Yes, I believe we ARE in control of our own life. As Flynn24 rightly said, it is all about freedom of choice. We are on this earth to experience and we choose what we want to do and experience through free will!
Choice and positive thinking go a long long way. Thinking negative thoughts brings bad luck and negative things to happen.
By the way Flynn24, I absolutely love your answers, they are so sensible and always make me smile (well most of them!!! lol) Keep up the good work mate.

Such a deity gave humans free will and as such has no right to influence our lives directly.So our lives are our own. Our decisions are our own. When we hurt or kill it is US that decides it. Not a demon, not a devil, not a god telling us to. Just us making CHOICES that affect what we do and say. And in some cases what others do or say.We humans make our own destiny. And our own future.Make the best of the world you live in. That's all anyone can ever really need to aim for, what happens during that is up to the person in question.Flynn 24
