reader, anonymous, writes (22 July 2009): well in Nepal, there's this tradition where if the girl is in love with a guy, which means if the guy she loves has for example 3 brothers, then she has to marry the four of them. she has to spend the first night of the honeymoon with the eldest brother. And it goes on and on. Believe me. Google it.

reader, anonymous, writes (22 July 2009): Yep, it is relatively uncommon though, usually the reason is tribes living in some really rash environments and it is then used as a strategy to limit the amount of children born. I think there is a ethnic group around Tibet that still practice it.

Therefore, it is no wonder that men around the world had the power to marry multiple women, but that doesn't mean that there weren't any women who also did the same thing.
Throughout history, there has been a few isolated regions of the world where polyandry existed. That means a woman with multiple husbands.
