A male reader, anonymous, writes (13 August 2011):

In a one-night stand situation I'd probably say bye bye and walk out the door if I found out, if I really care about someone though, it doesn't matter.

chigirl agony auntI have no idea, but I agree, men are scared off by virgins. I think it is because you must be committed before you take someones virginity, that you will have to wait and be serious in the relationship, and as the saying goes, men are scared of commitment.

hannah76 agony auntI have always thought men have been turned on by virgins. When younger, I remember a few boyfriends being rather sad that I wasn't. So, from experience, they were sad their girlfriend wasn't.

The Realist agony auntI don't think men are turned off by virgins at all. The thing is though that there is alot more to consider when being with a virgin. If the guy is caring he will be worried about being the person who takes her virginity and making it special for them. For those who don't care about the girls feelings they don't want the slow pace that generally accompanies the first time.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 August 2011):

Well there can be two sides

1. Men are not turned off by virgins because they are pure and no man has ever touched them or entered them or before... so they are 'purely and officially owned' by the guy. Then they can go boast to their friends about having done a virgin. Also myth suggests virgins are tighter.

2. Men are turned off by virgins because

a) They have never had sex before. And inexperience usually = not good, frigid, etc.

b) Too much responsibility to take away someone's virginity if they only want to play around.

c) It can get messy (both physically [the blood] and mentally).

etc

A male reader, anonymous, writes (13 August 2011):

Men are turned ON by virgins if anything.

Young women generally hold more of an unfair bias against less experienced men. Not the other way around.

The only time men stay away from virgins is when they just want to sleep with a girl without her getting attached. They don't want the sex to be too much of a meaningful experience for her if it is not going to mean anything to them.
