birdynumnums agony auntI know that my Mother also had a hysterectomy which removed her cervix and womb back in the '70's. Even though they left her ovaries, she started menopause early, at 40, and needed HRT. She never complained about her sex life, and I know that my parents continued having a good sex life until he had health problems in his late 60's, so I'm not sure the the hystorectomy had any effect on her in that way.

I'm sorry to hear about you or your family member being affected by this (you did not say if it was you) cervical cancer, but it's important to do what is best to safeguard your health. The good news is that this shouldn't affect your ability to enjoy life to the fullest afterwards. From what I have heard, most cancers in both areas are extremely treatable. If it is a younger woman (you?) that is the person involved, you could also consider having some eggs frozen in case you wish to use a surrogate later on, it could be possible to have your own children. It's something to consider if you should also need chemotherapy. Some chemotherapy programs can throw your ovaries into menopause. Just an idea in case it is relevent for your case. Best of luck, Dear.

Midge agony auntMy mom had cervical cancer and had to get a hysterectomy about 20 years ago now.

I am not sure what you want to know about it, but I am happy to answer if I can.

One thing I know for certain is that your sex drive does deteriorate a LOT. I know because it became a joke between my mom and dad that my dad is a born again virgin.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. My mom is really open so will tell me anything you need to know.
