 What makes you gag? Is it the smell, taste, the mere idea of it or just having something that massive (please, don't correct me, fragile male ego present) in your mouth?
Smell and taste might be corrected with a shower or a change in his diet. If the idea itself repulses you, well that is beyond me. Size, you could "train" yourself with food?
Or do you simply gag because you are trying to deepthroat instantly and you are only human?
Take it slow, start with fondling and kissing and don't push it further then you are comfortable with.

I think its great that you are trying to do something for him. BUt my advise is to start of by getting used to him first. For example kissing of licking. Also if you feel that you are prone to gagging try to not go as far down. You could also consider trying flavoured condoms.

 Perhaps your method is too much for you. Maybe you should take a shower together beforehand (that way he's nice and clean and doesn't have any leftover funk from a sweaty summer day) and then instead of putting him all in your mouth at once - go for the licking. Just lick him up and down like you would a popsicle... I think that will help you get used to the feel and taste and smell of him.
Sometimes licking is enough! Use your tongue and your hands and work it with that for a little bit. Then we'll see how things go from there...
