This is a question to do with my hair really, any advice if you can please :)

I am naturally brown, but for the past year (I think!) I've always gone to the hairdressers and had the top half of my hair dyed blonde. I don't want to go back to being brown because I suit blonde a lot more!

But when I leave my hairdressers, my hair is a really light blonde and all the top of my hair is blonde :)

After about a month or two, the blonde colour has faded down to a more natural, dirty blonde and my roots show really bad through my hair :/

Would anyone have any tips on how to keep it as bright and stay in longer?

I normally get my hair dyed every 4/5 months, which is not dying it every week or every month so I'm not killing my hair as bad

But any kind of advice would be really good

Thank you!!

tennisstar88 agony auntNo sweetie, they're there to make money, they want you to use their services. Giving you home tips would mean they would lose a little bit of your business. ..they're not going to tell you of any home dying tips. Which the only one would be to get those root touch up kits, but then again you'd have to do it yourself and leave it on longer than specified otherwise you will have different colored roots than your highlights.

Honestly, if you're going to stay blonde you need to let the professionals do it. Do like I said of the blue/purple based shampoo..that will get rid of the brass. There's nothing you can do about the root growth. I mean if you can stand 2+ inches of dark roots showing for the next 3 -4 months then go right ahead.

StephJayne agony auntThank you for your help!

I was thinking of going to my hairdressers and asking them any home dying products that may be better and that can save me money, Would you think that will help?

You should reconsider your hair colour choices. I guarentee that you'd look better as a brunette. The half blonde look has no class and won't wuit your skin tone.

tennisstar88 agony auntOf you're a natural brunette your roots are going to show really fast, and you're also going to have to go back to the hair dresser for a root touch-up every month to 2 months even that's stretching it. To get rid of that orange, brassy look use a blue based shampoo and conditioner. Redken's Blonde shampoo line has a blue colored shampoo, so does Paul Mitchell's blonde line. This will tone down that brassy look. However, don't use it too much or your hair will start to look too ash or gray. Also, next time you go in for a root touchup ask them to tone down your hair to get rid of the brass.

It is very costly being blonde, you might want to consider going back to brunette. I was a blonde for a year, and it cost me an arm and a leg to maintain it.
