I did it over the course of a few years and I only ever lost a couple pounds in a month. But that's what it takes to keep it off. If you lose weight too fast then you are actually training your body to put MORE weight back on as soon as it gets the chance.
Losing a lot of weight quickly is a boost to the self-esteem. But you will probably find that even just losing a little at a time will boost your self esteem too.
Just walk for long periods of time, like at least 1/2 hour, a few times a week. And drink lots of water. It makes you eat & drink less other stuff.

Take up martial arts, if that's an option. It's an expensive sport, but it's worth it. A lot of places let you have a trial class or two to see how you like it.
I had really low self-estemm and I was disgusted with my body, but I took up karate and became a completely different person. It was a smart move. I lost the weight I needed to lose and I think my character improved... I became nicer and more self-confident.
I'm not saying you're not nice, or not confident but it changes you inside as well as on the outside.
ANY exercise, however, will be effective if you are consistent, and eat healthy. There's no way around it; you have to eat healthy- fruits, vegetables, lean meats- and drink water. Cut out the sodas and junk (fast food, vending machine crap).

Loosing weight quickly is never healthy. I would suggest you take the time to educate yourself about nutrition a bit. You can find a lot of information jsut by using Goggle.
Learn what are "good" calories "good" fats and what is "bad. Learn about portion sizes.
At your age though, 8-10 glasses of water and around 1500 calories + at least 45 minutes a day exercising will help you fairly fast, however, once you quit the diet you can easily go back up in weight. Quit soda, stay away from too much sugar and starch. Eat protein with breakfast.
Loosing weight is rarely a quick fix. DO NOT starve yourself it will only ruin your metabolism. Do not purge it will ruin your teeth and mental health, Do no try laxatives it will ruin your digestion and can actually harm your immune system.
Best bet - talk to a dietician or nutritionist.
Be healthy, eat healthy, live healthy.
