First, the disclaimer: I don't think piercings are cool, and I would never insert needles into "my family's jewels". I find pleasure in inserting "you-know-what", never in having anything inserted into me.
I think that your genitalia are yours. And I also believe that you have a great incentive to continue doing what you do, as it gives you pleasure, so maybe any advice in contrary won't really help you.
