Use plenty of lube. My guess is you are not comfortable enough because you fear that it is going to be painful therefore you tense up meaning your muscles tighten up and therefore it makes it more painful. You need to make sure that you are extremely relaxed and turned on. Wearing a condom may make it easier and make sure you use plenty of lubrication

Hi all I'm new to this site but I love it already!! I have been with my husband for 11 years and we both enjoy anal sex very much I think its very important to look in to the possible risks involved with any kind of sex and always make sure your ready for that step don't let someone else make that decision for you back to the topic at hand anal sex is very pleasing as long as your comfortable doing it there are times even after 9yrs of it with my hubby that I'm for what ever reason not so I tell him its very important to be able to talk with your partner openly this way there are no mixed messages so I say if u like it and are able to speak openly go for it!! Just remember lot's of lube and clean real good when ur done oh yeah one more thing never never go vaginal after anal :)

A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 November 2009):

It's ok. No long term adverse effects if you do it properly. There should be no pain (pain means your doing it wrong), be gentle and gradual on entry, slow on exit, but deep penetration is ok. Try various positions (there are published guides and books for men and women.

Some nasty yeast infection possible (no virgina after anus is the rule), we do it last or only anal as a rule. The nasty yeast infection goes for the men as well, it happend once (a dose of anti-biotics cleared it up, but you don't want that twice), since then we changed our practices, we are very clean. But part of that is about eating well and being healthy and physically fit. Sloppy poo means your diet it crap, a good diet means your poo is a good long solid stool and pretty much self cleaning!

Lube is very imporantant don't do it without ever. Been doing it for years, no incontinance, no piles, no cuts, no pain, love it, no babies, same lovely faithful careful gentle loving guy, love it deep, different positions. Very kinky...great sex.

If you have differnt sex partners or your partners practices arn't safe (he cannot be trusted), always use a condom.

Enjoy.

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 November 2009):

The claim that your anus will streach is not quite accurate, it will in deed streach, but it will streach back very quickly. If you're gental and listen to your body have anal sex as often as you can w/o pain. Pain is the little hint that you're doing something wrong...

No, unless your trying to recreate a porn movie and your BF is slambing you like a porn star -or- unless your so out of touch with your body (drunk, high, using a desensitizing lube) that you can't feel the pain as a warning signal.

There are tales if anal causing cancer, or incontinace. Neither are true. The anus is a muscle, and muscles get stronger when they are worked out.

Yes, you can tear the anus, rip the skin, pull out too fast and prolasp the muscle... being gental, using LOTS OF GOOD LUBE, and exiting slowly are all vital.

A female reader, Doctor Elizabeth Canada +, writes (26 March 2007):

Doctor Elizabeth agony auntIt's fine to have anal sex on occasion, but you want to take it slow and easy. Also, be sure that your partner wears a condom. You can't get pregnant with anal sex, but you can still get an STD.

If you enjoy this type of sex and you don't over-do it, you should be fine.

Best to you,

Doc Liz

finchy agony auntIf you are having anal alot... e.g every night it could be quite dangerous because the anus isnt ment for penatration. The skin could stretch after a while... if you like doing it dont stop but only do it on an occasional basis and use plenty Lube :).. xxx
